The Neonatal Education, Simulation and Training Program (NEST) is a multidisciplinary initiative based at the Saint John Regional Hospital, in Saint John, New Brunwick. Founded in 2024, NEST brings together healthcare professionals from across disciplines to deliver hands-on neonatal resuscitation education and quality improvement initiatives.
Through provider collaborative learning, NEST supports the development of a skilled and resilient workforce prepared to care for newborns across New Brunswick.
Courses include instructors and learners from different backgrounds, reflecting the real-world complexity of neonatal resuscitation.
Structured curriculum offering multiple opportunities for practice over time, supporting long-term knowledge and skill retention.
Larger, more inclusive classes, expanding access beyond Women and Children's Health. Outreach initiatives to support community hospitals.
Centralized planning, reducing the burden on units and educators, and shared resources, optimizing costs.
Designed to work with existing infrastructure, NEST is a cost-effective model that can be readily adopted in other centres.
