Please reach us at hello@nicunest.ca if you cannot find an answer to your question.
No. NRP training is reserved for residents, students or staff who are currently working in areas where neonatal resuscitation is part of their role. It is not open to the general public or providers/students without clinical exposure to neonatal care.
If you’re involved in newborn resuscitation, we may be able to offer you a spot. Availability is very limited, as priority is given to SJRH employees. Pre-register here.
We do not accept individual student registrations. However, we’re happy to offer private group sessions for trainees if requested through your university or training program. Please speak with your academic coordinator and contact us to explore options.
Please speak with your unit educator or manager. Courses are free for your department and typically run every month.
Our spots are currently limited to providers within Women and Children's Health, Emergency Medicine, and Respiratory Therapy programs. Our courses are not open to providers without clinical exposure to neonatal resuscitation.
If you are outside of those programs, please discuss with your manager.
All our courses are "Advanced". For physicians, pre-hospital providers, registered nurses, and registered respiratory therapists, the Advanced course is mandatory.
Licensed practical nurses in Postpartum attend our regular class, but are evaluated within the scope of the "Essentials" provider status.
If you are an SJRH WCH/ER provider, your department covers all associated costs. For some non-WCH employees and all non-Horizon providers, NRP courses have a fee.
Weekend and private sessions are always delivered at a per-student cost, regardless of your place of employment.
The course fee covers the in-person simulation-based training only. You are responsible for the online exam and purchasing a copy of the most recent edition of the NRP Provider Manual.

No — the Refresher is designed to support skill retention after obtaining NRP priovder status.
Outreach sessions are often free for participants, depending on the hosting site and funding arrangements. However, instructor costs (such as travel, meals, and accommodation) may apply and are determined based on distance and duration.
Yes. These simulations are designed to reinforce concepts and strengthen existing skills, not to serve as a first introduction to neonatal resuscitation. If your team requires on-site NRP provider training, we’re happy to discuss that option — please contact us for details.
Absolutely! We welcome collaboration with instructors across the province. Please contact us to coordinate. We'll be happy to have you!
NRP instructor opportunities are invitation-only and based on clinical experience and our local needs. We are unable to train or accept instructors without routine clinical exposure to neonatal resuscitation, and we currently only support instructor development for Horizon and Vitalite staff.
